Getting Started

VinylSwiper is a Tinder-style iOS app for discovering vinyl records. You swipe through new arrivals from 16 of the world's best independent record stores — hearing a short audio preview on every card — and save the ones you love to your Crate. No clunky websites, no endless filters, no overwhelm. Just swipe.

VinylSwiper is free on the App Store. Download it here — or search "Vinyl Swiper" on the App Store.

VinylSwiper is an iPhone app (iOS 17 and above). An Android version is not currently available — though never say never if the demand is there.

Yes — VinylSwiper is free to download and use. A Pro tier with extra features (unlimited filters, advanced stats, and more) is coming in a future update.

Browsing Records

Each card shows a single record — artist, title, label, genre, and price. Audio starts playing automatically. Swipe right to save it to your Crate. Swipe left to skip. Records you've seen are never shown again.

Album artwork is not displayed in the app. To keep VinylSwiper compliant with platform guidelines around third-party intellectual property, cards use a clean layout without cover images. The audio preview, store link, and all record details are still there — nothing that matters to discovery is missing.

Yes — every card auto-plays a 30–60 second audio preview as soon as it comes into view. If a record has multiple tracks you can skip between them using the prev/next buttons. A circular progress bar on the artwork shows how far through the track you are.

Yes. Tap the filter icon (top right of the Dig screen) to open the filter sheet. You can narrow your session by:

  • Store — pick one or more of the 16 stores
  • Genre — filter to a specific genre or style
  • Label — filter by record label
  • Price range — set a max budget

The filter icon turns blue when a filter is active so you always know when you're in a filtered session.

The capsule at the top of the Dig screen (e.g. "record 142 of 24,107") shows your position in the current deck. The total updates dynamically based on any active filters.

Your Crate

Swipe right on any card. Saved records appear in the Crate tab, grouped by store. Your Crate is stored on-device and persists between sessions.

Tap Visit Store on any card (or tap a record in your Crate) to open the store's product page directly in your browser. You complete the purchase on the store's own website — VinylSwiper doesn't handle payments.

Yes — tap the share icon on any card. Your friend receives a link that opens the record with a playable audio preview. They don't need to have the app installed.

In the Crate tab, tap the trash icon next to any record to remove it. You can also tap Clear All at the top to wipe the entire Crate — a confirmation dialog will appear first.

The Catalog

VinylSwiper aggregates new-arrival listings from 16 independent record stores: Rush Hour, Hardwax, Juno Records, HHV, Jazzman Records, Yoyaku, Decks, Peekaboo Records, Sounds of Universe, Sound Metaphors, FLUR Records, Ater Cosmo, Manhattan45, Next Records Japan, XTC Records, and Hard To Find Records. More stores are being added regularly — if you'd like to see a particular store in the app, let us know.

Over 24,000 records are bundled in the app at any time, refreshed with each app update.

The catalog refreshes automatically in the background every 7 days — no app update needed. All store data is served from our servers, where a weekly process checks each store for new arrivals and removes records that are no longer available, so your Crate stays clean and previews keep working.

VinylSwiper only shows records that were listed as new arrivals at the time the catalog was last updated, and only records that have at least one audio preview available. Records without previews, back-catalogue items, and sold-out stock may not appear. VinylSwiper is not a search engine — it's a discovery tool.

Occasionally a store's preview file becomes unavailable after the catalog was last synced — the record may have sold out or the store may have removed the preview. The card will show a "Preview unavailable" label in that case. You can still visit the store page and buy.

For Record Stores

Every record card shows your store's logo, the release details, and a Visit Store button that takes the user directly to your product page. You get a dedicated presence in the app alongside some of the world's best independent record stores — and every swipe is a potential sale driven back to your site.

No — there's no fee to be featured. VinylSwiper is built around driving real traffic to independent record stores. Get in touch and we'll take it from there.

Nothing on your end — we handle the data side. The main requirement is that your new arrivals are publicly listed on your website with audio previews available. If that's the case, we can likely add you.

Drop us an email at mail@vinylswiper.com with a link to your store. We'll have a look and get back to you.

Yes — if you'd like your store removed from VinylSwiper, just email us at mail@vinylswiper.com and we'll take care of it promptly.

Privacy & Data

VinylSwiper collects anonymous usage events (swipes, audio plays, filter usage) via Firebase Analytics to help improve the app. Your Crate, stats, and seen records are stored entirely on your device and never uploaded. See the full Privacy Policy for details.

Go to the Settings tab in the app and tap Reset All Data. This clears your Crate, all stats, your digging history (seen records), and the Rush Hour remote cache. A confirmation dialog appears before anything is deleted.
